Vacuum UV emission from the products of quenching of Ar(3Po) and Ar(3Pz) by several reagents has been compared. The Iarge differences suggest that AI (3 PO) and Ar C3 Pz) preferentially yield respectively the D (l/2) and B (l/2) excited states of A&r* or ArCl*, which show specific, but very Mferent. predissociation patterns_
