✦ Synopsis

Abstract

We compared the abilities of three solutions (bicarbonate‐free glucose‐phosphate Ringer's solution (EP II), lactated Ringer's solution, and physiologic saline solution) to preserve pig cornea by measuring phosphate metabolites with ^31^P NMR spectroscopy. EP II preserves corneal viability better than others, and preserving extracted cornea also is better than preserving the whole eye.
