Comparative calculations of several methods of characterization for three multicomponent mixtures that include paraffin, naphthene, and aromatic fractions are shown. Each method requires different experimental information about the mixtures but all use the numerical Gauss-Legendre quadrature. The re

β¦ Synopsis
Ab&act-Previous studies on the charactenzatlon of solids mixtures have shown that the variance of the sample composttlon can be related to the structure of the actual rruxture by mtroducmg a correlation function which expresses the correlation between mixture element cornposItions agamst the distance between the elements The paper compares two theoretical models which were based upon (I) a descnptlon m terms of the &Crete umt elements in the mixture, and (II) a descnption at which the mixture IS considered to be a contmuum The comparison demonstrates that the derived equations for the sample vmance are mathematzcally consistent However, equations for the sampIe vmance are not equivalent due to fundamental differences at the evaluation of the correlation function The choice of model must therefore depend on the actual sampling technique

We report on the theoretical basis and first experimental results of a new method based on optical nonlinearity, for characterising crystallinity and polymorphism of pharmaceuticals in the solid state. Once the theoretical basis of optical nonlinearity of crystalline structures is established, a new
Most physically-based hydrological models rely on either spatially distributed or lumped characterizations of topography and other spatial variations. Three disturbed hydrological models with dierent treatments of topography, namely the MIKE SHE, TOPMODEL and GB model (geomorphology-based hydrologic
Ah&act-In many gas-solid reactions the porous solid undergoes structural changes due to differences in molar volume between solid reactants and solid aroducts. In this saner some new models are nroaosed which take into account the effects of structural changes dn the reaction raie.'The models differ
