✦ Synopsis


Abstract

The telescoped microvascular anastomosis was compared with the standard end‐ to end technique in the renal arteries of rats both in situ and in orthotopic kidney transplantation. The telescoped technique was easier to perform, required fewer sutures, allowed the transplantation to be done with a reduced period of ischemia, and was equally effective in terms of arterial patency. The telescoped arterial anastomosis appears to be a useful technique for simplifying orthotopic renal transplantation in rats.
