✦ Synopsis

This paper presents a number of different methods for determining the mar resistance of automotive clearcoats. The various methods are compared on the basis of measurements on different clearcoat systems and the results discussed with other physical parameters (microhardness, crosslinking density). Micro-scratching tests (individual scratches) were also carried out in addition to more practical tests (simulated car washes).

Two methods of setting confidence intervals for test scores and testing the significance of test score differences are compared with respect to their simplicity and the similarity of their results. The conventional method, which is based on obtained scores, is unquestionably simpler than the technic

## Abstract The precision and accuracy of the Kerley and Ahlqvist‐Damsten microscopic methods of age determination are compared. Both methods were applied to the same sample of 40 femoral thin sections of documented age at death. The results indicate that (1) both methods can be used with equal pre
