✦ Synopsis

It is demonstrated that the radiotracer technique offers a unique tool to distinguish easily specific and electrostatic adsorption of some anions at the γ -Al 2 O 3 surface in acid media. The specific adsorption of sulfate and the electrostatic adsorption of pertechnetate ions were compared. It is shown that the study of the adsorption of TcO - 4 ions may serve as a tool for the investigation of the behavior of the double layer formed at Al 2 O 3 in acidic media.

The specific adsorption of radiolabeled sulfate ions from perchlorate supporting electrolyte on hematite powder has been investigated. It was demonstrated that a measurable adsorption occurs only at pH values under 5. The adsorption capacity of a given amount of hematite powder tends to a limiting v
