β¦ Synopsis
Absorption and emission spectra of Tm^3+^in YAlO~3~and GdVO~4~single crystals are reported and analyzed. Lifetimes of^1^G~4~(22 ΞΌs)^3^F~4~(5.1 ms) states in YAlO~3~and^1^G~4~(16 ΞΌs)^3^F~4~(2.3 ms) states in GdVO~4~are measured, Fluorescence decay curves of blue and infrared emissions are also been given. In addition, widely tunable laser performances of Tm:YAlO~3~and Tm:GdVO~4~lasers are demonstrated.

## Abstract Pure and potassium doped cadmium mercury thiocyanate single crystals have been obtained from silica gel by the process of diffusion. The Xβray diffraction studies reveal the crystal lattice of both pure and doped crystals to be tetragonal. The crystalline perfection of the grown crystal
