Abstract
A novel compact wideband bandpass filter is proposed using a stub‐loaded triple‐mode resonator (TMR) with rhombus configuration. This TMR is formed by shunt‐loading a stepped‐impedance stub at the center of a half‐wavelength resonator. As this TMR is driven in its two sides by two identical quarter‐wavelength parallel coupled lines, a wideband passband with a fractional bandwidth 80% is achieved. With the help of a two‐section stub, two transmission zeros are excited near the lower and higher cut‐off frequencies so as to sharpen the roll‐off skirt of the passband. A two‐stage filter is finally designed to enhance the rejection skirts. Measured results for the two fabricated filters confirm the predicted results with sharp rejection skirt and wideband performances. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
