This paper presents a new, compact, dual-frequency design of single-feed circular microstrip antennas with an offset circular slot placed close to the patch boundary. It is found that, when the radius of the offset slot is about 0.38᎐0.62 times the radius of the circular patch, dual-frequency operat

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A single‐layer and single‐probe‐feed dual‐frequency semicircular microstrip antenna with a shorting plane is presented. Compared with a circular microstrip antenna operating at fixed frequencies, a large area reduction can be obtained. By varying the shorting‐plane width, the two resonant frequencies are significantly perturbed. Experimental and simulation impedance behaviors of a typical proposed antenna are given. Good agreement is achieved between them. Their measured radiation patterns are also presented. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A new design for the compact single‐feed dual‐frequency operation of a slotted square microstrip antenna is demonstrated. The antenna generates two distinct operating frequencies with different polarization planes and broad radiation characteristics. The antenna has the added advantage
Design equations are presented for calculating the resonance frequencies for a compact dual frequency arrow-shaped microstrip antenna. This provides a fast and simple way to predict the resonant frequencies of the antenna. The antenna is also analyzed using the IE3D simulation package. The theoretic
This paper presents the design of a dual-port microstrip patch antenna with dual-frequency operation. Two different feed mechanisms-aperture coupling and inset coplanar microstrip line-are used to excite the TM 10 and TM 01 modes, respectively, on a single square patch. The frequency ratio of the pr
## Abstract Dual‐frequency operation is achieved from a compact microstrip antenna by loading a pair of narrow slots close to its radiating edges. The two frequencies have parallel polarization planes and similar radiation characteristics. The ratio between the two operating frequencies can be tune
A new design of reduced-size, dual-frequency circular microstrip antenna is presented. The patch-size reduction is achie¨ed by cutting four equally spaced slits at the boundary of the circular patch. The two operating frequencies can be controlled by selecting a suitable disk radius and adjusting th
