## Abstract Harmonic suppression is an important factor for active microstrip patch antennas radiating harmonic frequencies. Here, a novel compact low pass filter (LPF) having high filter selectivity and wide stop band is used on the microstrip feed line of the patch antenna. The 15 dB LPF stopband

Abstract
In this letter, the compact coplanar designs of the microstrip antenna are performed to suppress the harmonic radiations. The antennas with the secondβorder harmonic suppression as well as the secondβ and the thirdβorder harmonic suppressions are designed, respectively. The results indicate that good harmonic suppression performance is achieved without increasing remarkably additional circuit area and decreasing antenna performances. Β© 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
