Abstract

A compact chip antenna is presented by using the low‐temperature cofired ceramics processing. Because of keeping the sintering temperature under 850°C, the 8.6CaO‐47.8B~2~O~3~‐43.6SiO~2~ (CBS‐10) glass system is adopted. The antenna is operated in the L‐band of Global Position System, 1.575 GHz. The total volume of the chip antenna is 10 × 10 × 2 mm^3^, and its size is reduced down to 36% which compares to using FR4 at the same frequency. As well as the performances of the far‐field radiation patterns are approximately to omnidirectional. The experimental results are consistent with the simulations. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
