โœฆ Synopsis

The excess energy dependcrrce of the intersystems crossing rate constant for hrSe isohted moIecu!es is studied assuming rapid redistribution of vibrational energy after excitation. Exponential increase of therJfe:-constant is predieted for hge separation between the initial singlet and the final triplet states. For small energy separation th rate stays almost constant provided :he transition goes directly via spin-orbit coupling. It inuesscs !incarIy if sphorbit viironic coupling is involved.

The topological understanding of a potential function requires a knowledge of its critical points and indices. These concepts are mathematically meaningless if the potential function is not twice continuously differentiable. When conical intersections or Jahn-Teller crossings are encountered, the ad

A model for the dynamics of high Rydberg states in isolated large molecules is proposed. The model accounts for the interaction between the electron and the vibrational degrees of freedom of the core. These are modelled by an Ohmic bath in thermal equilibrium. A reduced-density-matrix description is
