✦ Synopsis
The difficulty with drafting an article on regulation of marketing on the Internet is that it is being written too early. The laws of the UK, the other countries of the world and international bodies such as the European Union have yet to be written, although there are some common approaches beginning to show a common way that the majority of Western democracies may go. I offer two themes. The first is a general description of the current issues surrounding Internet regulation, with particular reference to the countries of the European Union, but not there alone. The second is a more detailed summary of the particular problem of domain names, to which I shall refer in passing in the first part of this paper.
