Gas hold-up and liquid circulation rates in a draft-tube bubble column (0.22 m diameter, 85 1 capacity) fitted with various diameter draft-tubes are measured for water and aqueous solutions of ethanol, glycerol and carboxymethylcel~ulose (CMC), respectively. The data are analyzed in terms of a devel

โฆ Synopsis
It follows that FwN(l; Da/N) decreases monotonically as N increases. In fact we see in the liit as N + co, FeN(l; Da/N) tends from above to the limit of the x that satisfies j: dy/p(y) =Da, since the sequence ~>x~>...>x,>*-+> xN > x is a valid partition of the interval (x, 1) in defining the Riemann integral The proof of these results will be given elsewhere in connection with'some other features of monotonic reactions. As far as dilution is concerned ths'effect is to reduce Da/N to DafNR and increase the number of stages from N to NR, but since R r 1, FmNR(l; NR) i F-"'(1; N) and the conversion is improved.
