✦ Synopsis

Deaves (1981)

addresses an interesting problem: the structure of a stationary, neutral boundary layer near its top. An important part of his analysis is based on the condition (1) where z,, z,, are the turbulent stress components; U, V are the components of the mean wind velocity, which satisfy V --+ 0 and U + G for z -P h, where G is the geostrophic wind and h is the boundary-layer height. Because both r, and rv become equal to zero at z = h, (1) implies that rr approaches zero faster than r,. The justification for (1)
