In the present communication, a new relationship for temperature dependence of thermal expansivity at high temperatures has been reported. The relation is acquired on the ground of high-temperature experimental data collected by Anderson for six geophysical minerals, viz. NaCl, KCl, MgO, CaO,Mg 2 Si

✦ Synopsis
Srivastava [Physica B 355 (2005) 32] used an inappropriate approximation in the derivation of the relation of temperature dependence of thermal expansivity of minerals at high temperatures. This made one of the parameters in the relation obtained from fitting with a vague physical meaning for the value obtained deviates remarkably from that given by its theoretical definition. Thus the claim that this relation may be used to predict the temperature dependence of thermal expansivity at high temperature up to the temperature close to the melting temperatures for minerals may be unreliable.
