✦ Synopsis
Huang et al. (2005)
present a modification to the Kool and Parker (1987) soil moisture hysteresis model, referred to as the KP model in the following, that avoids the problem of artificial pumping errors, i.e. the cumulative errors associated with the generation of hysteretic scanning curves in the KP model by scaling from the main wetting and drying soil moisture retention curves. This is a significant issue given the widespread use of numerical simulation programs such as HYDRUS-2D version 2Ð0 (Simunek et al., 1999b) and FEFLOW version 5Ð1 (Diersch, 2005), which adopt the KP model and its precursor
