In simultaneous spectral and electrochemical observation, absorbance-time relationship at an optically transparent electrode haa been derived. This treats the cases that (i) the reaction product is completely stable, and (ii) the product is unstable, and homogeneous chemical reaction is involved. In

✦ Synopsis
A recently published equation for the absorbance in transmission-mode spectroelectrochemistry for a simple electron transfer reaction under constant current conditions has been corrected. For the case of a reversible homogeneous chemical reaction following the electrode reaction, routes to the previously derived result have been pointed out.
