β¦ Synopsis
Bose, T., Combined Effects of Overflow and Quantization in Fixed-Point Digital Filters, Digital Signal Processing 4 (1994), 239-244.
The combined effect of two's complement overflow and quantization in digital filters is investigated. It is shown that the filter dynamics can be quite different when the two nonlinear operations are operating together rather than individually. Both the state-space and direct-form structures are considered and sufficient conditions are established for stability under the combined effect of overflow and quantization. Some properties of limit cycles are also derived.

A simple method is described for the design of fixed-point recursive digital filters with low round-off noise. The method is based on reducing to zero as many as possible of the coefficients of the filter state matrices. An optimization procedure is used to get the optimum value of linear transforma
Various methods are described in text books and research papers for generating a digital filter which will emulate the performance of a given analogue filter, normally without comment on the effectiveness of the methods. This paper investigates among other things the problem of comparing methods of
The unavoidable presence of impurities in metals generally leads to an offset of the fusion interval towards higher, or lower temperatures depending on the nature of the (metal + impurity) phase behaviour. In this paper, the effect of trace impurities on metal fixed points is considered both theoret
