Recent years have seen a proliferation of electronic journals across academic disciplines. Electronic journals offer many advantages to multiple constituencies, however, their acceptance by faculty and university promotion and tenure committees is unclear. This research examines perceptions of facul

β¦ Synopsis
Journal Serving a New Community
''Combinatorial chemistry'' is one of the most important and useful advances in a generation. Although it is not formally a new scientific discipline, combinatorial chemistry is an extremely useful new technology that has been created from the strategic integration of principles from several disciplines including organic, medicinal and physical chemistry, engineering and robotics, computational chemistry, informatics and screening technology. As a result of the interdisciplinary nature of the combinatorial technology, much of the important and useful work from today's combinatorial chemistry groups has no appropriate forum for publication.

The spectacular success in materials science of the application of combinatorial chemistry has raised the hope that it may eventually lead to a new scientific approach to catalyst development. This method is, within the constraints of heterogeneous catalysis, merely a potentially efficient tool to b
