✦ Synopsis

also means that the many students of development studies and development practitioners lack any real understanding or critical awareness of key management and organizational issues or appreciation of current trends in these areas.

Notwithstanding these concerns as to the way this Handbook approached the issue of development management, it should be reiterated that this volume is still a useful addition to any library. Despite its flaws it is still offers a comprehensive overview of many of the key issues in current development policy debates, and provides real insights into the background to many of these debates and how theory has developed. I suspect it will be used more as a reference book, and as such will successfully complement many of the standard texts in this area. Consequently, to reiterate what was said in the first paragraph, this is a book one would expect to find in all libraries and on all development studies reading lists.
