✦ Synopsis

A sensitive colorimetric method of analysis for seven compounds of the tetracycline series was developed, based on the formation of a colored complex between the tetracyclines and quadrivalent thorium. Theeffectsof pH and time upon thestability of the complexes were observed. The method was applied to 29 different pharmaceutical dosage forms, and satisfactory results were obtained for most of these.
