CHARLES C. FULTON (Am. Jour. Pharm., 1933, CV, 59-61) describes a reaction between manganous salts and either solicylic acid or aspirin (acetylsolicylic acid) in the presence of ammonia and hydrogen peroxide with the formation of a pink or red color, changing to brown.
