Abstract

โ€œIf you do not seek out allies and helpers, then you will be isolated and weak.โ€ So wrote Sun Tzu in his classic ancient text The Art of War. And it suggests an alternative to mergers and acquisitions (M&As) in these economically challenging times: collaboration.

Every business will encounter gaps in its knowledge and resources. If structured properly, collaboration can bridge those gaps. The author looks at some recent examples of collaboration and explains what you need to know to make this strategy work for your company. ยฉ 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

We study the field theory approach to Anderson localization paying special attention to the way in which localized states avoid Goldstone's theorem. We provide a formal derivation of Wegner's non-linear Q model for the localization transition and discuss those properties which are unusual, but neces

Most policy and much research concerning the application of biomass to reduce global warming gas emissions has concentrated either on increasing the Earth's reservoir of biomass or on substituting biomass for fossil fuels, with or without CO 2 sequestration. Suggested approaches entail varied risks

We propose a description of continuous evolution of systems with uncertainty based on min or product t-norms of fuzzy logic. We show that the dynamics has a Hamiltonian form in the extended state space composed from "physical" and "information" components if the min t-norm is used. This description
