## Abstract Plasma electrochemical oxidation (PEO) was used to prepare TiO~2~‐based coating containing Ca and P on titanium alloy. After alkali‐ and then heat‐treatment at 800°C of the PEO coating, a CaTiO~3~/TiO~2~ composite (CTC) coating was obtained. The current results indicate that the apatite

## Abstract Over the years hydroxyapatite (HA) coatings have been used to improve biologic properties of Ti‐based load bearing metal implants. However, applicability of HA coated implants is subjected to physical stability of the HA phase and mechanical integrity of the coating‐substrate interface.
The high corrosion resistance and good biocompatibility of titanium and its alloys are due to a thin passive film that consists essentially of titanium dioxide. There is increasing evidence, however, that under certain conditions extensive titanium release may occur in vivo. An ion-beam-assisted spu
