โœฆ Synopsis

Medulloblastoma, a primitive neuroectodermal tumor of the cerebellum, is the most common malignant tumor of the central nervous system (CNS) in children. Multi-modality treatment includes surgical excision, external beam radiation therapy and multi-agent chemotherapy. Otologic sequelae, such as chronic middle ear disease and hearing loss, are common in these patients and may result from both radiation and/or chemotherapy. Profound sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) is a known complication of temporal bone chemoradiation and may ultimately render these patients eligible for cochlear implantation.
