Abstract
CoCl~2~ is used as an efficient catalyst in the PaalβKnorr condensation of 2,5βhexadione with primary amines under solventβfree conditions, leading to the formation of pyrrole derivatives in excellent yield. This method is very easy, rapid, and high yielding reaction for the synthesis Nβsubstituted pyrrole derivatives. Β© 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
