The desorption behavior of cationic-nonionic surfactant mixtures, tetradecyltrimethylammonium chloride (TTAC) and pentadecylethoxylated nonyl phenol (NP-15), at the alumina-water interface was studied. It has been found that while nonionic NP-15 itself does not adsorb at alumina-water interface, it
This paper is affectionately dedicated to Professor Walter H. Stockmayer on the occasion of his 80th birthday. The work greatly benefited from the experimental skills of Nathalie Fritz. Publication of this paper was permitted by Ciba-Geigy AG.
Surface tension measurements were carried out fl)r systems containing mixtures of sodium dodecyl sulphonate and Triton X-100. From the results of these measurements we evaluated the molecular interactions parameters for the formation of mixed micelles and mixed monolayers at the water/air interface.
