The analysis of the linestrengths of the infrared spectrum of methane (12 and 13) in the 3-5 m region has been revisited on the basis of new measurements from Fourier transform spectra recorded at Kitt Peak under various optical densities. A simultaneous fit of these new data with previously reporte

✦ Synopsis
From spectra recorded at a resolution of 0.020 cm 01 of the flame CH 4 / O 2 at low pressure, six new vibrational transitions in D£ 3 Å 1 with 2£ 1 / £ 2 Å 5 had been recently identified [ D. Bailly et al., J. Mol. Spectrosc. 182, 10 -17 ( 1996 ) ] based on the HITRAN 92 predictions. New calculations have shown good consistency with our assignments except for one transition, namely, ( 21 1 1 ) 3 e r ( 21 1 0 ) 3 e for which discrepancies ( reaching 0.2 cm 01 ) were found. It has been possible to resolve this issue using new emission spectra of CO 2 , vibrationally excited by active nitrogen and recorded with a Fourier transform spectrometer at a resolution of 6.3 1 10 03 cm 01 in the 4 -5 mm spectral region.

The experimental technique which consists of exciting a mixture of N 2 O and N 2 by radio frequency is very efficient for populating very high vibrational levels. Twelve emission spectra of mixtures of N 2 O and N 2 were recorded with a Fourier transform spectrometer at resolutions of 0.006, 0.004,
The HNC molecule was generated by the reaction of translationally hot H atoms with either ClCN or BrCN. The energetically rich HNC products were probed by time-resolved infrared laser absorption spectroscopy. This allowed for the spectroscopic analysis of 16 vibrational bands in the wavelength regio
The infrared spectrum of ethane in the region of the CH-stretching fundamental vibrations, between 2600 and 3300 cm Ϫ1 , was recorded with a Bruker IFS120HR Fourier transform spectrometer. Jet-cooled and room-temperature conditions were used at 0.01 and 0.005 cm Ϫ1 instrumental resolution, respectiv
