โฆ Synopsis
The co-underpotential deposition (co-upd) of Cu' + and Zn* + ions was examined on Pt( 111) by voltammetry, as their upd occur in well separated ranges of potential. Their apd processes were observed to take place by transfer of two electrons in conformity with the Nemst equation. In phosphate solution of pH 4.5, the co-& of Cu*+ and Zn*+ ions was found to occur when Cu*+ concentrations were lower than those of Zns+ ions. In solutions with pH d 1, Zn*+ ions had little effect on the features of the cyclic voltammogram of Cu*+ upd. The effect of Br-ions on the cyclic voltammograms of co-upd was also investigated.
