✦ Synopsis

In order to control the aggregation phenomena in suspensions of nanoparticles, one often charges the particles electrically in order to delay or even suppress the aggregation process. The resulting cumulative size distribution of agglomerates of monopolarly charged nanoparticles suspended in liquid nitrogen is measured experimentally. The distribution is compared to results obtained by mean field theory. The relative width of the distribution obeys the lower bound predicted by theory. The results are discussed with respect to technical applications, e.g. stabilization of suspensions against aggregation.

The size distribution of various elemental clusters has been studied by time-of-flight mass spectrometry. By analyzing thousands of mass spectra of clusters, and in the light of statistical analysis of cluster formation, a statistical distribution model of clusters is put forward. If the size distri

The particle-size distribution is one of the main characteristics of polymers produced by suspension polymerization which determines the ®nal properties of the product. Since the on-line measurement of particle-size distribution during the course of polymerization is not a straightforward task, a te
