I was most interested to read the report of Hecht et a1 [1981] on the advantages of a Clonal System of Culturing for Human Amniocytes. Such advantages have been well known to us since 1974 and we have been advocating the use of such a system since that date for exactly the reasons given by Hecht and his colleagues.

The only surprising thing to me is the lack of reference to the original paper reporting this method, which was in fact developed in this laboratory by Dr. David M.
