The residue A (3.4 Gm.) from the acetone mother liquor described above was crude acetate on repeated crystallization from acetone afforded oleanolic acid acetate (0.5 Gm.)p m. P. 264-266'8 [a111 f 75" (CHCL). The mixed and did not yield any material, melting point with an authentic specimen of oleanolic acid acetate did not show any depression.
