Klaus Störtebeker war schon zu Lebzeiten eine Legende: Als Anführer der berühmt-berüchtigten Vitalienbrüder trieb der Freibeuter im 14. Jahrhundert in Nord- und Ostsee sein Unwesen und versuchte im Kaperkrieg, den Seehandel in den nördlichen Gefilden zum Erliegen zu bringen und das belagerte Stockholm mit Lebensmitteln zu versorgen. Packend und anschaulich erzählt Georg Engel den Werdegang Störtebekers mit seinen zahlreichen Höhen und Tiefen bis zu seiner spektakulären Hinrichung im Jahre 1402 in Hamburg.
