β¦ Synopsis
Since the beginning of history, puzzles and wordplay have charmed and confounded, foiled and befuddled people in every part of the world. Classic Puzzles has traveled time and space to collect the most stimulating riddles, tricks, and conundrums.
Among its more than 300 puzzles are challenges from ancient Greek, Arabic, and Hindu sources. Grand old masters of bafflement, such as Lewis Carroll and H. E. Dudeney, take their turns in the ceremonies. And modern masters like Martin Gardner and Pierre Berloquin hurl down their particularly punishing gauntlets.
Logic problems, number games, chess challenges, acrostics, and spatial tricks abound. There are also puzzles involving coins, matches, dominoes, and even computers. The puzzles vary in difficulty, and are so marked. Naturally, because youβre likely to find yourself stumped every now and then, the solutions are provided.

A man writes the same number, and nothing else, on 20 sheets of paper. Why? To figure this out--and hundreds of other mind-bending lateral puzzles, too--you'll have to really fire up your brain and imagination. At first, it may not seem as if there's enough information to come up with a solution. Bu
