✦ Synopsis
Environmental Inc of Ontario, Canada, is set to acquire all the shares of Dresden-based Alpha Plan GmbH and Saxonia BioTec GmbH, through a wholly-owned German subsidiary. The total value of the transaction, which is scheduled to close at year-end 2005, is 10 million.
Zenon says that the acquisition of these companies will further enhance its manufacturing processes as it strives to reduce costs in an increasingly competitive market place. "We see these acquisitions as complementary to our ongoing research in technology and product development," said Andrew Benedek, Zenon's chairman and chief executive officer.
Alpha Plan, a private company, produces membrane-processing equipment. Saxonia BioTec, also privately owned, specialises in the development of hollow-fibre materials and the production of disposable cartridges and system assemblies for filtration and bio-processing applications.
Both companies will continue to actively support their medical and biotechnology products, while Zenon's business will serve to complement their existing operations.
