The structural properties, WV-visible absorption and emission spectra and emission lifetimes of the dibenzylideneacetone ligand (dba), 4-ferrocenyldibenzylideneacetone (dba-Fc) and diferrocenylideneacetone (dFca) in solution and in the solid state are reported.
