✦ Synopsis

These results demonstrate that such surfactant crown ethers and their complexes are suitable as model compounds for biogenic lipid molecules; this is important in as much as the fine structure of natural membrane-forming compounds could so far be determined only in very few cases and with limited accuracy. It is suggested that the free ligand 1 could be used as an ion-selective membrane carrier.
