β¦ Synopsis
The Division of Liquid Chromatography of the Japan Society of Analytical Chemistry and the Chemical Society of Japan cosponsored the CIS '89 chromatography meeting in Tokyo, which reached out for the first time to an international audience. From the opening remarks by Profcssor T. Okuyama (Tokyo Metropolitan University), the chairman of the organizing committee, to the closing remarks by Professor G. Muto (Saitama Institute of Technology), the chairman of the LC division of the Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry, this meeting had an international scientific atmosphere that was inspired by an oriental touch of perfection in scientific presentations and social events.
Sixty-four of the 700 scientists attending the meeting came from outside Japan, representing 21 different countries. The three-day meeting covered 30 oral presentations and 196 posters. Among the posters, which gcncrally were high in quality, was a significant number that could be enjoyed mainly by the Japanese-reading audience.
