solids concentration of 74% and an operating discharge pressure of 9.2 MPa. To remove blockages, each DC-driven TZPM 1600 is equally capable of operating at a minimum of 20 m3/h at 15 MPa.

Previously, the Bayswater Power Station used conventional lean slurry pumps to dispose of both fly ash and furnace ash at a local ash dam. The dam's limited storage capacity, however, prompted the need for an alternative disposal site.

The GEHO piston diaphragm pumps are capable of transporting high concentrated slurries, making a 'dry' disposal method possible. The high concentrated 'thick' slurry runs out slowly over the disposal site after leaving the pipeline. Normally no water is set free of the slurry, depending on the characteristics of the ash.

The high density disposal method offers several significant advantages, such as: โ€ข longer use of same size disposal site, due to a reduction in volume. โ€ข decrease in water usage. Generally, dense fly ash slurries use 1 litre water to 1 kg ash instead of 10 litres to 1 kg. Dense fly ash slurries do not flow out on a horizontal surface, but from a shallow cone at the point of discharge. A t~)ical slope of 2-6% will be generated in the disposal site.

The heat balance of different circulating fluidized bed boiler designs is investigated for variations in input parameters, such as specific flue-gas amount and ash content of the fuel. A simple model and a corresponding diagram are developed to describe the boiler behaviour when conditions deviate f
