✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A low profile all‐metal mechanically robust circular microstrip patch antenna at S‐band frequencies is presented. The single coaxial feed circularly polarized antenna was optimized for a 3‐unit CubeSat structure. Good correlation between simulated and measured results was obtained. The measured antenna has a maximum gain of 8.9 dBi, and the −10 dB reflection coefficient bandwidth is 5.4%. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract Dielectric resonator‐loaded circular microstrip patch antennas can be used as an alternative way to generate circular polarization. The dielectric resonator is placed on the edge of the circular microstrip patch antenna to result both strong coupling effect and two degenerated orthogona
