Abstract
The circular dichroism of molecules, which are large compared to the wavelength of light, is considered. Explicit expressions are obtained for the circular dichroism and absorption of an exciton dimer and of a free particle on a helix. The dimensions are described for which the dipole approximation for the optical properties fails.

## Abstract The induced circular dichroism (ICD) spectra of the inclusion complexes of maleimide, phthalimide, and naphthaleneβ2,3βdicarboximide with __Ξ²__β or __Ξ³__βcyclodextrin (CDx) have been measured. The structure of the CDx inclusion complexes are interpreted by the signs and shapes of ICD sp
Vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectra are reported for (+), (-) and (-+) a-pinene, and (-) /3-pinene, isolated in argon matrices at ~18 K. These are the first observations of VCD of matrix-isolated molecules. Spectra are limited to the C-H stretching region (2800-3100 cm -1 ). In all cases, t
## Abstract We have measured the ultraviolet CD spectra for covalently closed and linear forms of phage PM2 DNA in solution. We find that increased concentrations of salt or ethanol (up to 50% ethanol by weight) depress the longβwavelength positive CD bands in the spectra of both forms of DNA, alth
The existence of circular dichroism in the triple differential cross section is shown for the emission of two electrons in the one-step double photoionization of a molecule. Our study reveals that the geometrical requirements for the presence of dichroic effects in the double photoionization of line
