β¦ Synopsis
On September [15][16][17] 2004, the Commission International de L'Eclairage is sponsoring a symposium on image acquisition and display at the Central Building of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest, Hungary.
The field of Color Imaging is progressing with an everincreasing speed. CIE set up its Division 8, Image Technology in 1999. The Division was already successful in organizing several symposia and workshops in the field of image processing. In recent years, new hardware for image capture and display became available. For their proper use a number of questions falling into the area of interest of the CIE have to be solved, starting from the best methods of characterizing and calibrating these devices, up to the establishment of the necessary guides and standards. Therefore the CIE Division 8 and the Board of Administration decided to devote a symposium to these questions, following also the request of the Steering Committee for Image Technology of ISO. This meeting will be held in Budapest at the Headquarters of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in September 2004.
The goals of this conference are to discuss open questions of image capturing and display, with special emphasis on device modeling, multispectral image capturing and display, characterization and calibration issues, and the best use of colour appearance models and gamut mapping algorithms. Another goal of the meeting is to formulate recommendations for CIE Division 1, 2 and 8 for further action.
