CIDNP has been studied during photolysis

of formaldehyde in solution.

The primary photochemiwl process is the hydrogen abstraction by predominant triplet excited formaldehyde from ground state formaldehyde.

In the presence of bromotrichloromethane a singlet reaction occurs.
