Following a recent reidentification of the apigenin C-glycosides in diploid Briza media, the luteolin C-glycosides were reexamined and three acylated derivatives of a luteolin C-glycoside were found. β¦ Synopsis
A summary of previous chromosome counts of Brachypodium is given in addition to a large number of new reports. The present work does not support claims made for extensive infraspecific variation in certain species. The implication of cytological knowledge for a taxonomic and evolutionary understanding of the genus is discussed.
Brachypodium collections of known wild origin is
given in Table 1.
Material and methods
Brachypodium accessions obtained on collecting trips or by seed exchange were grown in a 15 Β°C greenhouse at Leicester University Botanic Garden. Root tips were collected between 1230 and 1400
