Merbarone is a catalytic inhibitor of topoisomerase II (topo II) that has been proposed to act primarily by blocking topo II-mediated DNA cleavage without stabilizing DNA-topo II-cleavable complexes. In this study merbarone was used as a model compound to investigate the genotoxic effects of catalyt
