✦ Synopsis
Chromosomes of Rattus rams fmg'voms (Raf.) collected in seven populations of the Iberian Peninsula were examined. Karyological analysis revealed a poly morphism caused by structural changes in chromcsome pairs Nrs 14, 16 and 18, possibly due to pericentric inversions. 41 specimens had Pair 14 homomorphic acrocentric and 3, heteromorphic. No specimens with two subacrocentrics were found. For pair Nr. 16, 25 specimens were A/A, 10 were A/S and 9 were S/S. For pair Nr 18, 20 specimens were A/A, 13 were A/S and 11 were S/S. These results are discussed and compared with those obtained by other authors for other populations of Rattus rams.
