✦ Synopsis
The chromosomal location of the dwarfing gene Rhtl2 in the mutant winter wheat Karcagi 522M7K was investigated using F2 monosomic analysis. T'he segregation ratio for F2 progenies of Chinese Spring monosomics x Karcagi 522M7K, and that of Cheyenne monosomics x Karcagi 522M7K indicated that the near complete dominant dwarfing gene Rht 12 is located on chromosome 5A. The heterozygous and hemizygous states of the genes Rhtl2 have the same effect on plant height.

Deficiency of the wheat waxy (Wx) proteins (Wx-A1, Wx-B1 and Wx-D1) was studied in 1,960 cultivars derived from several countries. Gel electrophoretic analyses revealed that the null allele for the Wx-A1 protein occurred frequently in Korean, Japanese and Turkish wheats but was relatively rare in cu
