Preliminary results on the electrochemical behaviour of copper in contact with fused NaNO,-KNO, at 250Β°C are reported. Electrode-potential measurements and X-ray analysis indicate that films formed on the copper surface consist mainly of Cu,O. Passivation of copper is induced by anodic polarization.
The galvanic behaviour of various metals in molten potassium bisulphate has been investigated, using a hydrogen reference electrode at 260-280Β°C. A galvanic series is presented to indicate the probable direction of galvanic effects in corrosion cells. ## R&nn&Recherches sur le comportement galvan
Thermodynamic behaviour of copper in molten NaOH at 623K (35O"C) has been studied. The solubility product of cupric oxide, Ksp\_-2. was determined to he 2.5 x lo-" by chemical analysis. The standard potential of the Cu/Cu+ couple was found to be 1.97 V vs Na/Na+ and that of the Cu+/Cu\*+ couple was
