These examples show that organometallic betaine compounds with a combination of transition metal and main group metal are easily accessible and that they make characteristic carbon--carbon coupling reactions possible. These variants in the chemistry of heterodimetallic complexes could open interesting routes to new stoichiometric reactions and catalytic processes.

Experimental Procedure

3: Precooled toluene Was added at -7 8 to a mixture of 1 (1.50 g, 5.0 mmol) and tris(pentafluoropheny~)bordne (2.56 g, 5.0 mmol). The mixture was then slowly warmed to room temperature with stirring and stirred for a further 4 h. The yellow precipitate which formed was filtered off, washed with toluene (30 mL). and dried under vacuum. Yield of 3: 3.75 g. 81 %; m.p. = 7 4 -C (decomp.). ' H NMR ([DJben~ene): d = 5.32 (s. IOH.
